Overview
The MIS Group has, for some years, considered Iraq an important part of its development and growth strategy. While the Group has been present in Northern Iraq’s Kurdish region for several years now through its Sunbelt safety division, it strengthened its presence in Iraq by placing additional resources and attention to this market in early 2011. In March, MIS announced the appointment of its Chief Strategist for Iraq, Chris Parker MBE, an experienced veteran of the Iraq market.
Today the MIS Group is registered with the Iraqi Ministry of Trade to operate across all of Iraq. The latter has strongly endorsed MIS by requesting both the government owned developers, South Oil Company (SOC) and North Oil Company (NOC, in the North) to proceed to qualify and approve MIS.
MIS Iraq is registered in Iraq under MIS as a parent company and in Kurdistan and has set up two major Joint Ventures with Iraqi partners, MIS Iraq and MIS Kurdistan:
- Iraq, with 200,000 m2 fabrication facility near Basra.
- Federal Group in Kurdistan, with a range of services and future facility to serve North Iraq and Kurdistan.
With operations and services now available to clients in the region, the Group is making large investments to bring the MIS high grade fabrication and oilfield services to Iraq.
