Company is investing in strategic and financial talent

UAE-based Maritime Industrial Services Co. Ltd. Inc. (OSE: MIS) has announced a number of new senior appointments. This move comes amidst other organizational changes the company has announced throughout the year as it further implements its strategy for profitable growth.

Andrew R. J. Calvert joins the company as Group CFO and will focus his efforts on establishing and managing the successful implementation of the company’s finance strategy while also handling all investor relations activity, supported by Bill Kennedy, his predecessor who remains at MIS as Executive Vice President. A finance practitioner for over 30 years, Calvert has extensive expertise in the different areas of financial management including business and financial strategy, corporate finance including M&A activity and restructuring of businesses. He has worked in the UK, USA, Australia and, most recently, the UAE where he was the Finance Director for the Middle East and South Asia hub of an international construction company. His experience spans several industries, including construction, financial, media/publishing and MNC Oil.

Zubin Shroff joins MIS as Vice President – Strategic Development, focusing on managing the profitable growth and development of the services-oriented areas of MIS’ business; the Technical Services and Sunbelt H2S Safety value streams, in addition to 3C Metal International LLC, the company that MIS acquired in June 2008. Shroff is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Certified Public Accountant, and comes with a strong background in the financial aspects of business management and strategy development. He has worked in a number of industries including Property Development, MNC Oil & Gas and Oilfield Services, in the UAE and the Middle East. His most recent role was Vice President Finance at a large private property developer in the UAE.

Stephen Smith joins MIS as Business Development Director – Marine & New Build Rig Services Division, with responsibility for building on the company’s existing successes in the new-build rig and refurbishment arena. Smith brings over 22 years of Business Development and Marketing experience to MIS, gained in a variety of posts in the UK, UAE and Scandinavia gained predominantly in the drilling, well service and offshore construction sectors.

MIS’ Managing Director, Kevin Hudson, confirmed that these new appointments are critical to the success of the company’s five-year strategy (developed in 2008), to see the company grow profitably. “MIS is not immune to the challenges being faced within this sector,” Hudson said. “This is more reason for us to invest in strategic talent that will help see MIS achieving its goal of becoming a profitable US$ 1bn company by 2013.”
